Log Cabin

One of the first things I bought through Close To My Heart was the Card Confidence Program book, Originals. I love it! Not only is it beautiful, making it an excellent coffee table book, it is packed with details to help you make each card a special gift. In addition to the 99 card templates, there are cutting guides, embellishment suggestions, technique tips, quotations and more. It has become a valuable staple in my scrapping library.

Recently, I had the pleasure of crafting a congratulations card for a friend who had just had a baby. I wanted to give her something special for the occasion, but I was also eager to use my new stamps!!

After browsing Originals, I settled upon the Log Cabin template. This template has an excellent balance of patterned paper and cardstock to stamp on.
This card is simple to put together and only takes a few minutes.

I used the following supplies to create this card:
* Kraft and Outdoor Denim cardstock
* Pemberley patterned paper
* Card Word Puzzle and Bohemian (alphabet)stamps
* Cocoa, Outdoor Denim, Black and White Daisy inks
*Baker's Twine (neutral assortment)
* Clear embossing powder
*Foam tape

Begin by creating a 6" x 6" card with the craft carstock. Stamp large rose from Card Word Puzzle stamp set in Outdoor Denim ink. I stamped each image 3 times before reinking. Trim two 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" strips of Pemberley paper, ink the edges with Cocoa ink and adhere to the top left and bottom right corners. Trim a 3 1/4" square from Outdoor Denim cardstock, ink the edges with Cocoa ink and adhere to the centre of the card. Trim a 2 1/2" square from Kraft carstock, stamp the large rose image from the Card Word Puzzle stamp set in Outdoor Denim ink, ink edges with Cocoa ink and adhere to centre of Outdoor Denim square. Trim a 1/4" x 1 1/2" strip from Outdoor Denim cardstock, stamp sentiment from Card Word Puzzle stamp set in White Daisy ink, ink edges with Cocoa ink and adhere to bottom right corner of Kraft square. On a scrap piece of cardstock, stamp a letter from the Bohemian alphabet stamp set in Black ink, dust with embossing powder and emboss. When set, trim letter and adhere using foam tape. Cut a 24" length of Baker's Twine, wrap around top of card and knot.

Tip: If you would like to present this card in an envelope, trim  the sides of your card base by 1/8" before you begin. This will allow the card to fit into a 6" x 6" Kraft envelope without snagging on the Baker's Twine.
